Bonus buy slots offer a paid route into a game feature instead of requiring its ordinary trigger. The quoted price is commonly expressed as a multiple of a selected stake. Buying access does not buy a particular prize: the feature still follows its rules, and its return can be below the purchase cost.
The word bonus can cause confusion here. A feature purchase spends an account balance inside a game. A casino welcome bonus is promotional credit with separate conditions. This guide explains the difference, how to convert a multiplier into a cash price and what to check when a game presents several purchase or enhanced-bet options.
What is a bonus buy in a slot?
A bonus buy, feature buy or similarly named option charges a stated amount for entry into a defined feature. That might be a free-spins round, collection game or another mode. The label and entry rules vary by developer and version.
Ordinary spin
A paid base-game round follows its normal rules. A feature may be triggered if the required result occurs.
Feature purchase
A separate quoted price provides entry under the purchase rules. It can commit the equivalent of many ordinary stakes at once.
Enhanced bet
An optional setting can increase the cost of an ordinary spin under different rules. It is not necessarily direct feature entry.
Read the exact promise on the confirmation panel. A button offering a chance of a feature is different from one granting entry, and a standard entry is different from a special version with additional conditions. Similar-looking controls should not be treated as interchangeable.
The presence of a purchase option on a developer page also does not establish that it is enabled in every casino installation. Available features can differ between versions and markets. Check the actual game and operator rules rather than trying to bypass a missing option.
For the relationship between the base game and feature rounds, see video slots. Our free-spins features guide covers spins won inside a game.
How to calculate a feature purchase price
Multiply the stated price multiple by the stake or unit specified in the rules. If the price is 100× the total base stake and that stake is $0.50, the purchase costs $50. Confirm the cash amount before selecting the final control.
$0.20 base stake
A hypothetical 100× purchase costs $20.
$0.50 base stake
The same hypothetical 100× purchase costs $50.
$1 base stake
The same hypothetical 100× purchase costs $100.
These are arithmetic examples, not actual prices for a listed game. A title may use a different multiple, several entry levels or another pricing system. Some prices can change under specified in-game conditions.
The small stake label can hide a larger commitment
A screen may continue displaying the ordinary base stake while the purchase panel quotes a much larger price. The amount deducted for the purchase is the relevant cost, not the smaller number behind the panel.
Check currency as well as the number. A credit denomination may need conversion, and an account shown with a dollar symbol is not necessarily AUD. Our AUD guide explains account currency and game-credit displays.
Purchase price and feature winnings are different amounts
A net-result illustration
A hypothetical feature costs $50 and returns $18. The net result of that purchase is a $32 loss. If it returns $70, that purchase has a $20 net gain, but the wider session may still be below its starting balance.
Do not compare the feature’s final animation only with the ordinary spin stake. Add the full purchase cost to any other money spent during the session. The real-money slots guide explains balances and transaction records.
Casino welcome offers
These are general welcome promotions, separate from buying a game feature. The table does not confirm that bonus buys or the example games below are available. Check the actual lobby and whether purchases are permitted under the promotion before using promotional funds.

Different purchase options need different checks
Standard feature entry
A basic purchase may start the feature under a specified set of conditions. Read the opening spins, symbols or other state. Do not assume the purchased round starts exactly like every naturally triggered version.
Premium or upgraded entry
A more expensive option can advertise additional spins, a starting multiplier or another defined feature change. Compare the complete price with the exact change being supplied. A higher price does not guarantee a higher final return or a profit.
Enhanced ordinary spins
An enhanced mode can charge extra on each ordinary round rather than selling immediate entry. Establish the new total stake and what changes. Any published increase in feature likelihood must be read with its definition; it is not a guarantee of a trigger on the next spin.
Changing purchase prices
Some games adjust the displayed entry cost after defined events. A reduced current price does not erase the money already spent during earlier rounds. Track total spending separately from the current purchase quote.
Gambling an awarded feature
A separate gamble can risk spins or an awarded feature for a different result. Read what can be lost and whether the entire award is at stake. Paying for entry and then gambling that entry are two separate decisions, not one guaranteed package.
The rules should identify what is purchased, what remains random and any explicit minimum award. If no minimum is stated, do not invent one from the price or feature name.
Official feature-purchase examples
The following developer descriptions illustrate different designs. They are not recommendations, quoted current casino prices or confirmation of availability at the listed operators.
Extra Chilli
Big Time Gaming describes Feature Drop as an option to trigger the feature. Its information also identifies a free-spins gamble. Those are separate mechanics: entry does not establish that an optional gamble will succeed.
White Rabbit
The developer describes Feature Drop with a price that can reduce when specified BTG coins appear. This illustrates why a changing entry quote must be read alongside earlier spending and the active game rules.
Match the complete title, configuration and enabled options. A feature described on a studio’s page may be absent from a particular installation. Our Megaways guide explains the reel mechanic used by these examples; changing reel heights do not automatically imply that a purchase option exists.
RTP, volatility and feature-buy results
Read the return information for the mode being used. A game can list a range or describe separate modes, so selecting the largest advertised percentage and applying it to every action is unreliable.
RTP is a theoretical long-run measure. Even if a purchased mode has a stated return percentage, that does not mean one purchase will return that proportion of its price. A feature can produce a small award or a substantial one within its rules.
Volatility concerns the spread of possible returns. Direct entry does not turn a volatile feature into a predictable result. Concentrating a larger amount into one purchase can also create a substantial immediate balance change.
For example, a hypothetical $100 purchase with a stated 96% theoretical RTP corresponds to $96 of theoretical return across the model, not a promised $96 result for that purchase. It is not a way to calculate how many attempts are needed for a profit.
Use high RTP slots and the RTP calculator for percentage arithmetic. Our high volatility, low volatility and volatility guides explain payout distributions.
Buying is not a loss-recovery system
Previous losing spins do not make a purchased feature owe you a return. Repeating a purchase after a poor result commits another full price; it does not guarantee recovery of the earlier cost. Keep spending and time limits independent of any desired feature outcome.
What to read before confirming a purchase
- Complete cash price: confirm the amount and currency deducted, not just the base stake.
- Entry conditions: identify the exact feature, starting state and purchased option.
- Applicable rules: check multipliers, retriggers, maximum prizes and any explicitly stated guarantees.
- Return information: use the configuration and mode actually selected.
- Optional gambles: understand what an additional selection can risk.
- Promotional restrictions: establish whether the purchase is allowed with the current balance type.
A game’s confirmation panel should make the commitment clear. If the rules or amount are unclear, leave the option unselected until the operator supplies an explanation through its verified support channel.
On mobile, make sure the final price remains readable and that the purchase control is distinguishable from ordinary spin and help buttons. Rotating the device should not be treated as a substitute for checking the amount again. See our mobile hub, iPhone guide and Android guide.
Can casino bonus funds buy a feature?
That depends on the specific promotion. A game can be permitted for ordinary spins while feature purchases, enhanced bets or gamble options are restricted. Read the actual terms rather than assuming every action inside an eligible title is allowed.
Maximum-bet rules also need care. A small base-stake setting does not establish that a much larger purchase complies with a promotional limit. Check how the promotion defines a bet and treats feature-entry costs.
Wagering contribution, expiry and cashout caps remain separate conditions. A hypothetical $40 bonus with 30× wagering on the bonus alone requires $1,200 of eligible turnover, but that arithmetic says nothing about whether a purchase qualifies or whether a balance can complete the requirement.
Use the wagering calculator, bonus withdrawal limits and sticky versus non-sticky bonus guide for those conditions. The welcome bonus guide covers account offers.
Demo purchases and practical limits
A practice version can show the purchase menu and feature presentation using virtual credit. That credit has no cash value. The ability to reset a demo balance can hide how much equivalent paid play would have cost across repeated purchases.
A short demo cannot establish a feature’s full return distribution or predict a cash result. Check whether its configuration and enabled options match the version being considered. Our free slots guide explains virtual play.
Set spending and time limits before cash play. Do not increase them to chase a better purchase result. Support information is available through responsible gambling and Gambling Help Online.

Bonus buy slots: frequently asked questions
What is a bonus buy slot?
It is a slot with an option to pay a stated price for entry into a defined feature. The price, starting conditions and enabled options depend on the exact game version.
Is a feature buy the same as a casino welcome bonus?
No. A feature buy spends an account balance inside a game. A welcome bonus is promotional credit or spins with separate eligibility, wagering and withdrawal conditions.
How do I calculate a 100 times purchase price?
Multiply the specified stake by 100. If the rules use a $0.50 total base stake, the price is $50. Confirm the actual cash amount and currency before selecting the final control.
Does buying a feature guarantee a profit?
No. The resulting return can be below the purchase cost. Entry does not guarantee a particular prize, and no minimum award should be assumed without an explicit rule.
Is an enhanced bet the same as buying the bonus round?
Not necessarily. An enhanced setting can increase the cost of ordinary spins under different rules without guaranteeing direct feature entry. Read exactly what the option supplies.
Can a purchase price change while playing?
Some games use pricing that changes under specified conditions. A lower current quote does not erase money spent on earlier rounds. Track total spending separately.
Does the base-game RTP always apply to a feature purchase?
Do not assume so. Read the return information for the selected version and mode. A published range does not establish which percentage applies to a particular action.
Can welcome bonus credit be used for feature buys?
Only if the actual promotion permits it. Check feature restrictions, the definition of maximum bet, wagering contribution, expiry and cashout rules. Ordinary game eligibility is not enough.
Will another purchase recover a poor feature result?
There is no guarantee. Repeating a purchase commits another full price, and independently determined outcomes do not owe repayment of earlier losses.
Can I withdraw winnings from a demo feature purchase?
No. A demo uses virtual credit with no cash value. It can explain the interface and feature rules but does not predict cash results.
