A slots welcome bonus is an introductory casino promotion for an eligible new account. It may combine deposit-matching credit, promotional spins and a code. The headline percentage is only part of the offer: the deposit needed, wagering base, game restrictions and withdrawal conditions determine how the package actually works.
This guide compares four welcome offers and explains the calculations behind them. It also separates a maximum advertised amount from the credit a particular deposit supplies, and distinguishes promotional spins from free spins triggered while playing a game.
Compare casino welcome offers
Start with the offer matching your intended account and deposit, then read its complete landing-page terms. A package can include several components with different conditions. The table is a comparison of promotions, not a guarantee of eligibility, winnings or withdrawal approval.

What can a welcome package include?
Deposit match
The operator adds promotional credit calculated from a qualifying deposit, subject to a percentage and cap. That credit is not automatically withdrawable cash.
Promotional spins
A stated number of spins applies to selected games at a defined value. Winnings can carry conditions separate from the matched credit.
Several deposit stages
A package can divide its headline total across multiple deposits. Check each stage instead of assuming the entire maximum arrives with the first payment.
Welcome does not mean no deposit. A promotion requiring a qualifying payment belongs to a different category from a genuinely deposit-free offer. For the distinction, see deposit bonuses and no-deposit slots bonuses.
Nor does welcome establish that an existing account can claim again. Eligibility can depend on earlier registrations or claims and other operator rules. Our existing-player bonus guide covers that separate audience.
Read the package as several promises rather than one large number. The deposit match, spins and later stages can have different claim times, game choices and withdrawal treatment.
How the match percentage and cap work
For a straightforward deposit-match calculation, multiply the qualifying deposit by the match percentage and apply the bonus cap. A 100% match supplies promotional credit equal to the qualifying deposit; a 300% match supplies three times that deposit, up to the stated limit.
A hypothetical 300% offer
A $20 qualifying deposit at 300% produces $60 of bonus credit if it meets the terms and does not exceed the cap. Deposit plus bonus is $80 of starting credit before any separate spin awards or other adjustments.
That $80 is not a promise of $80 available for immediate withdrawal. The deposit and promotional components can have different conditions.
The maximum is not the automatic award
A hypothetical 400% match up to $4,000 does not give every claimant $4,000. At $50, the simple match calculation is $200. Reaching the $4,000 cap would require a $1,000 qualifying deposit under that calculation, assuming the terms permit it.
A higher cap is not a reason to deposit more than a predetermined spending limit. Compare the amount the intended deposit actually receives instead of treating the maximum as money that must be collected.
Check what the headline total represents
A package total may describe bonus credit, deposit plus bonus or several deposit stages. Read the label carefully. A phrase such as up to can apply to one component rather than the whole package.
Currency matters too. A deposit in one currency and a promotion expressed in another require an explanation from the operator, not an assumed one-for-one conversion. Our AUD guide explains the different currency displays.
Welcome codes and claim steps
A code identifies a promotion; its wording is not a complete description of the terms. Use the code attached to the selected offer and confirm its treatment before making the qualifying deposit.
- Match the offer. Confirm the operator, landing page, eligibility and required deposit.
- Read the code instructions. Establish whether it belongs at registration, in the cashier or in a promotion field.
- Check the selected package. Confirm the correct offer is active before funding it.
- Check the credited components. Distinguish the deposit, bonus and promotional spins in the account.
- Resolve errors before wagering. Use verified support if the code or credit differs from the stated offer.
Do not assume every code can be added retrospectively or combined with another promotion. The operator’s instructions determine claim timing and compatibility. Repeated codes or another deposit are not reliable fixes for an unclear claim.
If a code fails, record the exact message and offer reference without sharing account passwords or one-time codes. The bonus-code troubleshooting guide covers common questions to resolve.
Wagering: read the base before multiplying
A wagering multiple is incomplete without its calculation base. Bonus-only wagering and deposit-plus-bonus wagering can produce different requirements from the same multiplier.
Bonus only
With a hypothetical $50 bonus and 30× wagering on bonus credit alone, the eligible turnover requirement is $1,500.
Deposit plus bonus
With a $50 deposit, $50 bonus and 30× wagering on both amounts, the eligible turnover requirement is $3,000.
Turnover is the sum of eligible wagers, not a required amount of losses and not a prediction of the balance that will remain. A balance can be exhausted before the requirement is completed. Our wagering calculator handles the arithmetic.
Game contribution
A permitted title may contribute only part of its wagers. If a hypothetical game contributes 50%, a $1 allowed wager supplies $0.50 of eligible turnover. An excluded title and a reduced-contribution title are different cases; read both the permissions and the contribution table.
Maximum permitted bet
A game can offer a stake above the promotional maximum. The visible control does not override the bonus terms. Optional enhanced modes, feature purchases and gamble actions may also need separate checks.
A small base-stake label is not proof that a much larger purchase meets a maximum-bet condition. See bonus buy slots for the difference between ordinary spin cost and feature-entry price.
Time limits
Separate the deadline to register or claim from the time available to use spins or complete wagering. Check when the clock starts and what expiry does to remaining credit or winnings.
Cashout and credit treatment
Read any withdrawal cap, treatment of the original promotional amount and consequences of withdrawing before conditions are complete. Do not assume an account balance equals an immediately withdrawable amount.
Our bonus withdrawal limits and sticky versus non-sticky bonuses guides explain these separate conditions.
Free spins included in a welcome offer
A promotional spin count needs a game, stake value and conditions before it can be compared meaningfully. One hundred spins at one value are not automatically equivalent to another package with the same count.
Check whether spins arrive together or in batches, whether a claim is required and how winnings are credited. Their wagering or cashout treatment can differ from the matched bonus. Do not apply one component’s terms to the other without confirmation.
Spins triggered while playing are a separate game feature. A promotional spin may trigger such a feature, but the offer’s balance restrictions do not disappear as a result. Use promotional free spins and game free-spins features for the two meanings.
A free-spins feature can pay less than the amount spent during earlier rounds. The spin count itself does not establish profit or a minimum return.
Compare the offer for the intended deposit
The largest advertised percentage is not enough to rank two packages. Work through the actual deposit amount, credit supplied, required turnover and restrictions.
- Deposit requirement: is the intended payment eligible and within the minimum and maximum rules?
- Credit supplied: what does that payment actually receive after the cap is applied?
- Wagering base: bonus only, deposit plus bonus or another stated amount?
- Eligible games: are the intended titles permitted and how much do they contribute?
- Withdrawal treatment: what caps, verification and credit-removal rules apply?
- Time available: when do claiming, spins and wagering expire?
Keep game mathematics separate from offer conditions. A higher RTP does not guarantee that a bonus balance will complete its wagering requirement, and a lower volatility label does not protect the deposit. Our RTP guide and volatility guide explain those measures.
It is also reasonable to compare play without promotional credit where the operator offers that choice. Read the ordinary account rules rather than assuming that taking the largest available package is always useful.
Payment method, account checks and mobile claiming
A payment method accepted by a cashier is not automatically eligible for every offer. Check exclusions and how account and payment currencies are handled. Our banking hub covers method categories.
Account verification and withdrawal arrangements remain separate from completing bonus turnover. Retain the relevant offer terms and transaction details, and use the operator’s verified support channel for discrepancies.
On a phone, read the full code and confirmation amount before submitting a claim or payment. Make sure the terms panel is readable rather than relying only on the headline visible above it. See the mobile hub and browser-play guide for practical checks.
Set a spending and time limit independently of the bonus cap or expiry. Do not add funds simply to chase a requirement or recover a lost bonus balance. Support information is available through responsible gambling and Gambling Help Online.

Welcome bonuses: frequently asked questions
What is a casino welcome bonus?
It is an introductory promotion for an eligible new account. It can include matched deposit credit, promotional spins or several stages, each subject to the actual offer terms.
Does welcome mean no deposit is required?
No. Many welcome packages require a qualifying deposit. A genuinely no-deposit offer is a separate category and still has eligibility and withdrawal conditions.
How much does a 300% match add to a $20 deposit?
In a straightforward qualifying match calculation, 300% of $20 is $60 of promotional credit before any cap or other rule. Deposit plus bonus would be $80, not automatically $80 available for immediate withdrawal.
Does up to $4,000 mean every player receives $4,000?
No. The amount depends on the qualifying deposit, match percentage, cap and package structure. Check whether the headline combines several deposits or components.
Where should a welcome code be entered?
Follow the selected promotion instructions. The code can belong at registration, in the cashier or in a promotion field. Do not assume it can be added retrospectively.
What is the difference between bonus-only and deposit-plus-bonus wagering?
They use different calculation bases. A $50 bonus at 30 times bonus-only wagering requires $1,500 eligible turnover. Including a $50 deposit as well would make that illustrative requirement $3,000.
Does a game in the lobby always count towards wagering?
No. It may be excluded or contribute at a reduced rate. Check permitted titles, contribution, maximum stakes and optional-feature restrictions.
Are included promotional spins the same as spins won in the game?
No. Promotional spins are an account offer with selected titles, value and conditions. Game free spins are a feature triggered under the paytable; they do not automatically remove promotional restrictions.
Can I withdraw as soon as wagering is completed?
Completing turnover does not replace the other conditions. Verification, withdrawal caps, payment arrangements and treatment of promotional credit can still apply.
Can an existing account claim a new-player welcome offer again?
Do not assume so. Eligibility depends on the actual operator rules, including previous registrations or claims. Existing-player and reload promotions are separate offer categories.
